Focus on Bodrum, Turkey

Bodrum is not just a pretty town on Turkey’s sunny Aegean coast it is a fascinating peninsula dotted with villages all with their own particular charm, character and atmosphere. Even Bodrum Town itself offers different aspects depending on your point of view. Firstly it is the ancient City of Halicamassos with ruins and monuments on every corner. It is also a vibrant cosmopolitan City of the 21st Century, a playground and place to work for people from all over the world, suitable for all ages and bank accounts. Restaurants abound the best being La Jolla, The Yacht Club, Kocadon, Kirmizi and Gemibasi all along the front leading toward the Private Marina. Bodrum is a 24 hour town in the summer and bars and clubs are legion but if loud music is not your thing try the Hamam (Turkish baths) across from the bus station or the public beach up near Halikamos.
To escape the sounds of partying it is best to buy property up high above the main road where you will enjoy peace and quiet with fabulous views over the town and the bay.
If culture is what you need Bodrum hosts a jazz and a ballet festival and there are numerous performances of music, dance and theatre in the Castle grounds, the Amphitheatre and Oasis. There are also four permanent sites for art exhibitions. Bodrum has always made a living from the sea fishing still continues in a relatively small way (fish farms provide the bulk of the local fish) while Blue cruises on wooden gulets and bare boats are flourishing.
As for shopping, Bodrum has pretty much everything including its own shopping mall (Oasis complete with restaurants, bars and Cinemas) there are also the trendy shops of the Marina Complex and the hundreds catering for tourists on Bar Street. If it is D.I.Y you need the main road between Bodrum and Ortakeni can provide you with everything from a paint brush to the kitchen sink. As for Supermarkets Bodrum boasts a Kipa (Tesco) Migros, Metro Gima and Tansas.
If for any strange reason you should want to leave Bodrum there are ferries and a Hydrofoil to whisk you away to Dalcra, Marmaris, Kos or Rhodes. To get around locally there are hundreds of minibuses called “Dolmush “which stop and pick up anywhere on their route as well as coaches going to pretty much everywhere in Turkey. Bodrum International Airport is a 30 minute drive and will get you to the U.K in three and a half hours with flights all the year round.
If this has succeeded in whetting your appetite we have a wide selection of Villas and apartments ready to move into let me know your requirements and I will be pleased to send you details. Better still why not go and see for yourself my associate in Bodrum will be delighted to show you around.
