Focus on Almeria

The Costa de Almeria is located in the South East of the Iberian Peninsula on the Mediterranean Sea and boasts 200km of beaches stretching from Pulpi in the east to Adra in the west. The climate is warm and dry with cloudless blue skies for most of the year.

The last few years have seen a steady increase in the regions social and economic development with the introduction of modern agricultural methods, the mining of white marble and tourism. Still in the early stages of development property in this area represents excellent value for money and a sound investment for the future.

Mojacar
With 17km of shoreline you can choose between a secluded cove and a bustling beach. Here there are numerous sports facilities including golf, tennis, and water sports and in the evening there is a fantastic range of restaurants and nightlife to suit both the young and young at heart.

Vera
This is the main commercial area. Saturday is market day and the town is renowned for ceramic handicrafts esparto grass weaving and marble cutting. There are numerous carnivals and fiestas throughout the year and many places of interest including the 16th century parish church and the Padres Minimos Convent. Vera’s 6km of beachfront is currently undergoing urban redevelopment with numerous beaches one of which is reserved for nudism.

Turre
Situated inland, the area is predominately agricultural but there are several restaurants specialising in regional cuisine. Part of the region is in the Sierra Cabrera Mountains an area of exceptional beauty ideal for walkers and for the more energetic, rock climbing. For the golf enthusiast there is the Cortijo Grande golf course that winds its way through orange and lemon groves.

Garrucha
The busy port, used by fishing boats, merchant ships and pleasure craft alike, remains the main focal point. The life of the town revolves around the fishing industry and Garrucha is renowned for its fish cuisine and in particular Garrucha prawns, be on the quay when they are landed you won’t regret it.
